Our Company
We know that being an operator/driver is a tough job and we appreciate the challenge that drivers face every day. Our job operationally is to take care of our customers and our drivers. Management is here every day to hear from you. If your driver manager cannot solve your particular situation, we have an open door policy that someone from management will be available.
At Davis Transfer Company, our drivers are not only valued employees, but stakeholders that are critical to our business success. Each driver is assigned a personal driver manager to help ensure your success. This driver manager is available during normal business hours to make sure each dispatch is communicated effectively and if there are any problems they assist you.
Trucking is not a 9 to 5 job and we are not a 9 to 5 company. We have staff on site 24 hours per day 7 days per week, to assist you. In addition, each late model Freightliner is equipped with Qualcomm's latest technology to allow you to communicate effectively. Our trailers are tracked using Skybitz satellite technology so we can assist in keeping trailer pools at required level to help keep our drivers moving.
Hiring Areas
We are currently hiring in Georgia, South Carolina (85 Corridor), North Carolina (85 Corridor), Florida(Entire State), Eastern Alabama, and Pennsylvania.
Our Traffic Lanes
Our primary traffic lanes are Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Texas, Western South Carolina, Western North Carolina, Intra-Florida. The average length of haul is 425 miles.
Our Equipment
All of our equipment is 2006 or newer Freightliner Columbia’s and Cascadia’s. Our trade cycle is about 4 years on most equipment, although depending the truck we may keep some longer. All tractors are equipped with auxiliary climate control equipment to reduce idle. This makes for a safer, economical and more comfortable environment while reducing emissions to help our environment.
The Work
Our drivers are expected to stay out at least 5 days per week. All drivers are required to be available for duty a minimum of one weekend a month. Many of our drivers do stay out for periods longer than 7 to 10 days, but this is not required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 23 years of age
- Minimum 3 year OTR experience within last 5 years
- No more than 3 moving violations in last 3 years
- Good reference - Stable work history
- Valid class (A) CDL
- Able to pass DOT physical, drug test and other evaluations
- No DUI, DWI, alcohol related, or reckless convictions in the last 5 years
- No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years
- Cannot have 5 moving violations in 5 years
- No drug offense convictions
- No felony convictions
